Becoming a Mindful Consumer

A few years back, I started drastically changed the eating & purchasing behavior for my family. "Voting with each dollar" was essential with each purchase and we started buying less but higher quality while supporting local farmers & businesses who practiced organic and certified humane practices, as well as outstanding customer service.

Realizing that I didn't have much of a connection to the other products that I bring into my home, the impact on my family, environment, or those involved in it's production, I started shopping more mindfully and am committed to becoming a more socially conscious consumer. Through the production of materials and the labor involved, it's difficult to purchase a 100% purely ethical product. However, supporting organizations that have social responsibility ingrained in their business model, practice fair labor laws, and are committed to high quality service and care of  their customers and employees can be an empowering consumer experience. We have the power to support the success of some truly amazing businesses and products.

The purpose of this blog is to share my findings in hopes of supporting socially responsible businesses as well as companies that set high standards in service for the industry. I am excited about the path of becoming a more mindful consumer and welcome any information that readers have to offer.
